LaCie 4big Quadra 4-bay RAID solution is ideal for small servers, creative pro workstations, or offices that need more security, superior speed, and larger capacities. With the option of seven RAID modes, including RAID 0 and RAID 5, the perfect backup solution is the 4big Quadra Hard Drive.

Seven RAID modes and a versatile hot-swappable feature make for even more customizable performance and data protection. Burst transfer rates reach up to 200-230 MB/s through eSATA 3Gbits- making the 4big ideal for applications that require high speed such as photo, pre-press, AV projects, and HD post-production. The 4big is compatible with Time Machine and comes with Genie Backup Manager Pro for Windows and Intego Backup Manager Pro for Macs. Both backup managers offer customizable backup and computer recovery.

4big Quadra drives are stackable and daisy-chainable. It's not only space saving, but scalable as well. Connect up to four drives to attain a massive 24TB capacity and super-fast 600 MB/s transfer rate. The 4big Quadra drive features four interfaces (eSATA, FireWire 800, FireWire 400, and USB) to ensure compatibility with any Mac or PC.

The 4big Quadra drive is configured in RAID 0 for full speed and capacity, but can be configured in alternative RAID modes easily on start-up to manage speeds, security and available capacity. Available RAID modes include RAID 0, 10, 3, 3+spare, 5, 5+ spare, and Concatenation. Secure modes RAID 5, 3, and 10 enable data access even if one disk fails. Utilizing the hot-swappable function allows maintenance without affecting your work. A "spare" mode allows added protection and auto maintenance that will immediately start rebuilding the RAID protection in case of a disk failure. Utilize a spare disk for immediate replacement.

The 301359U boasts a large capacity of 4 Terabytes! With the ability to store hours of AV streams, the 4big Quadra was made for digital content creators that work with Apple Final Cut Pro. Utilize the highest bandwidth with eSATA or FireWire 800. FireWire or iLink DV cameras can be chained to the drive via FireWire in case port availability is limited. Using RAID 0 or RAID 5? The 4big Quadra supports multiple audio, DV, SD, and HD streams up to one stream of uncompressed 10-bit NTSC video in playback. For even more performance, connect several units together to a multi-lane eSATA four-port host adapter and support multi-stream uncompressed 10-bit 1080i HD post-production.

The 4big Quadra, when configured in secured RAID mode, can archive and protect thousands of raw photos. Use the LaCie shortcut button on the front of the drive for quick access to open or backup favorite libraries.

Included with the 4big Quadra is Genie Backup Manager Pro for Windows and Intego Backup Manager Pro for Mac. The advanced software enables quick and secure backup of documents, email, settings, or other digital assets. Backup software allows you to schedule and customize the type of backup created. It can also find previous versions of documents and restore them.

The LaCie 4big RAID hard drive saves power and reduces noise output with the Noctua fan technology. The nine-blade design provides the right amount of pressure and airflow, while keeping the volume to a minimal 19dBA. Compared to previous generations of RAID drives, the 4big has reduced power consumption by 30%. Also, using the "Auto" mode of the power button allows the hard drive to go into standby mode, synchronized with the computer activity, and further reduces the power consumption.
