Maxell iVDR-Xtreme Field Tough Hard Drive - 250 GB

The iVDR-Xtreme hard drive is a shock-resistant compact solution for field shooting. The first "Field Tough Media" of its kind, the iVDR-Xtreme connects directly to a shoulder-mounted camcorder through a bi-directional USB or FireWire. Utilize the iVDR Universal Adapter (sold separately) to attach the drive to your camera for increased portability. More rugged than a consumer hard drive, the iVDR-X features proprietary designs to make it unique.

The iVDR-Xtreme field tough hard drive offers a capacity of 250GB in a small, compact design. The iVDR has a rugged, durable, light-weight construction with the ability to stand up to shock and vibration. It weighs just 6.1 ounces and features a two-piece design for portability. Leave the adapter on the camera and use the included stackable fieldcase for transport. Easy to use and install, the hard drive is compatible with PC, Mac, and Linux and is formatted with FAT 32.

Weighing just 6.1 ounces and boasting drop protection of up to four feet, the unit is protected by a hardened plastic shell and special shock isolation system. The hard drive is hot-swappable and built for repeated use. It is capable of up to 10,000 insertion and removal cycles. Use the adapter (sold separately) to mount the unit to any camera. Then just take the hard drive unit out for easy transport. The iVDR-X comes with a Universal AC adapter but is bus-powered by Hi-Speed USB 2.0 or 9pin FireWire 800 port.

The iVDR-Xtreme works in any environment. Use the iVDR to offload P2 and other pro cameras, in industrial environments, sports analysis, mobile medical, videography, law enforcement or just sharing/editing large files between PC and Mac, backing up or transferring digital music, videos, or photos. It meets military specifications for shock protection and is more temperature resistant than consumer drives. These characteristics make it the best choice for mobile professionals and those needing superior protection for their data.

What is iVDR?

iVDR is a new standard in removable media designed for high speed, high resolution video imaging. The key for the new standard is the iVDR interface. Based on a serial ATA model, the 26pin interface could produce transfer rates beyond eSATA's 1.5Gbps.

What makes the iVDR so rugged?

The iVDR-Xtreme has specific design features to make it rugged and durable. The Elastomeric bumper is designed to isolate the internal HDD in case of a drop from any orientation. The iVDR connector can endure up to 10,000 cartridge insertion and removal cycles. The hard drive is isolated from the outer shell to increase shock resistance and also protect the drive from repeated drops and vibration. A flexible cable on the inside connects the suspended HDD and fixed iVDR connector to isolate the internal components from severe shock and vibration. These design features make the iVDR-Xtreme rugged and durable enough to handle the most important data.
