Panasonic 63 Minute Advanced Quality Mini DV/HDV Tape: HDVM63AMQ
Panasonic now introduces a re-vamped Advanced Master Quality mini dv/hdv tape, the HDVM63AMQ tape. Ideal for HD recording, the 63AMQ has a seed layer on the surface of the base film to make it more durable and robust. By adding the extra layer the recording density is raised, as is the output, and the risk of drop outs is lowered. With a high output, low error rate and high level of image quality this tape offers the quality and reliability professionals come to expect.
The DLC (Diamond Like Carbon) film makes the HDVM-63AMQ a more durable tape and increases the reliability. With a thicker coating the tape has added strength and can stand up to the repeated fast-forwarding, rewinding, playback, and professional editing. Using a proprietary surface treatment that enables uniform coating of the lubricant, Panasonic has created a tape that is highly stable in both recording and playback.
Panasonic has employed a "hybrid" lubricant to provide the best in tape performance. By optimally blending lubricants with different characteristics Panasonic is able to minimize head clogs, and increase the friction ratio and head life. The dry-type lubricant also improves the head life over other HDV tapes because the head wear is much lower. What you get with the Panasonic AMQ and hybrid lubricant is greater head life, and high reliability and stability during high-speed shuttling, professional editing, still-frame and archival stability.
Panasonic has also paid attention to both the cassette that houses the tape and the outer case. They use an ABS resin cassette shell to reduce warping and provide increased durability and impact resistance. The anti-static cassette lid keeps dust and debris out, further protecting the tape and footage. The new AMQ tapes come in a rugged hard locking case to keep from accidental opening. Side locks prevent the case from opening and the tape falling out and the special grooves on the outside of the tape make stacking and carrying easier.
