The PrismPlus! thermal printer, with its exclusive Perfect Print™ feature, offers stellar monochrome and spot color printing with impeccably clear text and full customizable capabilities useful in situations like

Direct thermal printing with Prism Plus! is the most affordable method of direct-to-disc printing. This single stage process utilizes a thermal ink ribbon. The high-resolution print head heats the ribbon at the desired points causing the ink to bond to the surface of the disc.

Using precise electronic control over both print elements and the motion of the disc under the head, the Prism Plus prints either 300 x 300 dpi or 300 x 600 dpi, rendering the smallest text or detailed logo with excellent readability. The resulting print is waterproof, resists most scratching, and will last the life of the disk under normal use.

The PrismPlus disc printer excels at applications where quality, direct-to-disc printing is desired, a high level of durability is needed, and cost per disc must remain low (as low as just under 5 cents per disc). And, with a mono print ribbon capable of printing 2,100 discs, this is one printer that won't require a lot of attention while doing its job.

PrismPlus! Disk Printer Features

• Prints approximately .65 inches/second at 300 x 300 dpi, .45 inches/second at 300 x 600 dpi.
• Materials print cost-per-disc is a low $0.04 (black and white) to $0.25 (color) per disc.
• Printed imagery is waterproof and highly resistant to scratching. Under normal use, the printing will last as long as the disc.
• Includes CD Designer label creation software (see below) for Windows.  Imports graphics and text, and allows serialization, bar code, and data merging capabilities. 
• Works with other industry-standard graphics programs including Adobe® Illustrator®, Adobe® Photoshop®, Macromedia® FreeHand®, QuarkExpress®, and CorelDRAW®.
• Perfect Print permits accurate placement of printing on pre-printed discs. An optical sensor in the Rimage transporter detects a small index mark that is silk-screened in the index ring along with your silk-screened design. The transporter then rotates the disc to the correct orientation so your customized printing will always be aligned with your original silk-screened artwork.
• Ribbon Saver - Reduces ribbon waste by using only the amount needed for printing, lowering printing cost and maximizing throughput.
• Printhead Integrity Check - Automatically tests the printhead printing elements ensuring high quality images.
• Ribbon Validation - Monitors ribbon usage and indicates when ribbon capacity is running low.
• Use with geniune Rimage prism ribbons for best results!
• Cleaning Mode - Allows you to quickly clean the entire printhead surface using the Prism cleaning pad .
• New printing algorithm allows for a lower printstrobe setting, extending printhead life.
• Warranty: Six months. Additional maintenance agreements available.

Ribbon Types

• 3-color (CMY) panel ribbon produces approximately 500 images per ribbon
• Monochrome (red or black ) ribbon produces 2,100 full CD images, or greater than 40,000 with ribbon saver.
• Blue monocolor produces 2,100 - 40,000 CD images

Supported Disc Sizes

• 120mm CD, CD-R, and DVD-R media
• 80mm round/business card media (optional tray insert required).
• 58, 61, and 63mm business card media (optional tray insert required).
• Effective print area is 115mm when printing on 120mm discs.

CD Designer Software

The Rimage Prism Plus allows you to print from most graphics applications or through the included CD Designer software.  With CD Designer you can

• Add graphics, text, objects, and photos from almost any source.
• Create your own templates for changeable discs with a consistent look
• Import numerous graphics file type including BMP, DCX, DIB, DXF, EPS, IMG, JPG, PCX, PNG, TGA, TIF, WMF, WPG.
• Merge up to 99 variable fields per label
• Serialize discs incrementally.
• Access 22 main types of bar codes including two UPC variants and the four regional codes of the Australian mail system.
